Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Owls Beat Hornets on Senior Day

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The Owls women's soccer team beat VTSU-Lyndon in their final game of the year, this win gives the Owls their first North Atlantic Conference win of the year. UMPI went on to beat the Hornets 5-0 in their senior day home game.

The Owls celebrated senior day to go along with their win, celebrating four of the Owls players. Seniors, Alexis Ireland, Amelia Ivey, Alexis Rodriguez, and Marissa Havey were celebrated.
 
The Owls started off early with a goal by Presque Isle native, Jocelyn Gagnon in the 8th minute of the game to start UMPI off strong. Ashlyn Wing assisted not only the first goal but the Owls first three goals of the game. Kourtney West scored the Owls second goal in the 26th minute, while Madison Miller followed shortly, with a goal in the 35th minute. For the Owls final goal of the half, senior star, Alexis Ireland scored her first goal of the game, this one assisted by Maggee Currie. After the four goal first half, the Owls came out of the second just as strong with a goal in the 57th minute, this goal was once again by Ireland, her ninth goal of the year. Assisted by first year Taylor Marston.
 
The Owls controlled the game on the offensive end, finishing the game with 26 shots, 18 on goal compared to the Hornets two shots, both on goal. Senior Marissa Havey spent the 90 minutes in goal for UMPI.
