UMPI Advances Win Streak to Six Games After Weekend Sweep

LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS – The University of Maine at Presque Isle women's volleyball team continues their win streak to six games. UMPI faced off in a doubleheader hosted by North Atlantic Conference opponent Lesley University. The Owls beat the host Lynx 3-0 before beating the non-conference opponent Massachusetts Maritime Academy 3-1 to keep their streak. This 3-0 weekend advances the Owls to 8-12 on the season and 4-4 in the NAC.
 
Game 1
Owls (3-0): 25-10, 25-8, 25-11
In the Owls first match of the day, they put together a quick 3-0 victory. UMPI won the match with a team total of 23 service aces and 28 kills on the game. In the first set, the Lynx put together a mid-set run to put pressure on the Owls before putting the set away. In the second and third sets, UMPI was able to bounce back from any short run by the Lynx.

Game 2
Owls (3-1): 25-16, 17-25, 25-16, 25-20
The Owls started off their second match maintaining all the momentum as they started the match up 12-3. For the remainder of the match, the teams would battle back and forth before the Owls were able to put the first set away. In the second set, it was Maritime that was able to maintain the lead throughout to even the sets at one each. Maritime gain a slight lead in the third set before the Owls were able to string together a 6-1 run to take the lead. Later on, UMPI was able to put together an 8-0 run to eventually put the set away. In the final set the match became a game of runs, with a 5-0 run by UMPI to start it off. Later a 7-0 run by Maritime was answered by a 4-0 run to give the Owls a three-point lead. Eventually UMPI was able to maintain their lead to keep their streak alive.
