Owls Compete in Season Opener

Owls Fall to Pilgrims in First Game of the Year

HENNIKER, NH – The Owls men's soccer team traveled to play New England College Pilgrims in their season opener. This young Owls team showed some promising things on the pitch despite losing 2-0.

The Pilgrims were in control early with 20 shots on goal in the first 45 minutes, and scoring both of their goals in the first. Scoring in the eight-minute mark, Logan Cassin scored off his own put-back. Tucker Stenger scored in the 33rd minute off a corner from Noel Huliselan. The second half played more even as the Owls six shots to the Pilgrims ten.

Captain Nyden Reed led the Owls on the offensive end with six shots, one of which was on goal in his 90 minutes of play. First year goalie Xavier McAtee finished the game with ten saves and allowing two goals of the Pilgrims 30 shots, 13 on goal. Hayden Walker played in goal for the Pilgrims and finishing with five saves.

The Owls will finish their season opening Labor Day weekend with a game on Sunday Sept. 4 at 11:00am vs Methodist University.
