Owls Move to 1-1 in the NAC After First Loss to UMF

FARMINGTON, ME – The UMPI Owls Men's Soccer team falls to the Beavers of the University of Maine at Farmington, 4-1. This loss for the Owls puts them 1-1 in the North Atlantic Conference and 1-2-2 on the year while the Beavers also sit 1-1 in the NAC after this win.

The Owls came out of the gate aggressive, and the first to score in the NAC game. It was first year Matthew Bayonne, giving the Owls a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute of the game. A quick answer for the Beavers just ten minutes late tied the game as the teams went into halftime. UMF with the edge in the first half, nine shots to the Owls five. The second half was all Beavers, scoring three goals, in the 69th, 76th and 81st minutes. Controlling the majority of the second half the Beavers out shot the Owls 13 to five.

With the Owls only goal on the game, Bayonne also led the team in shots on goal with two, in his 90-minutes of play. Xavier McAtee was in the goal for the Owls, finishing the game with six saves.

The Owls will finish their weekend road trip with a game vs non-conference opponent Nichols College Bison.
