Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

UMPI Finishes the Weekend with a 1-1 Tie vs Falcons

PRESQUE ISLE, ME – The Owls women's soccer team tied with the Fisher College Falcons in today's non-conference match, 1-1. UMPI now moves to 1-1-2 on the year and the Falcons 1-1-1.

The first half was all Owls to start the game as Alexis Ireland put one in the back of the net in just the 7 minute mark to take the lead. Rhylee Kinney earned the assist as she hit Ireland with a long through ball to give her the edge. The Owls continued to apply pressure, finishing the first half with ten shots on goal to the Falcons two. Although the Owls were in control throughout the majority of the first half the Falcons were able to counter just before the half, scoring in the 42nd minute. Kelly Wallace earned the unassisted goal just before halftime.

In the second half, the energy switched as the Falcons were in control for the majority of the half. Finishing the second half with 14 shots to the Owls six. Although the Owls were able to hold up on the defensive end. Led by Savannah Rodriguez, in goal, recording eight of her nine saves in the second half.

Ireland finished the game with six shots as the Owls recorded a team total of 16 shots and only three on goal. Compared to the Falcons 16 shots and ten of which were on goal.  The Owls will head to Farmington, Maine to play in a NAC game against UMF on Saturday the 17th of September.
