Box Score 1 Fort Myers, FL - The Owls competed on day three of their spring break trip, playing against Kenyon and Wilmington, falling both games 14-5 and 10-2.
Game 1 (14-5 - Kenyon):
How it happened:
The Owls found themselves trailing early as Kenyon plated 10 runs by the second inning. The Owls offense started to come back in the top of the 3rd inning when Savannah Rodriguez (Presque Isle, ME) singled to bring Reagan Calvin (Taylorsville, UT) to the plate who doubled, moving Rodriguez to third. Following that, a 3 RBI home run hit by Jordan Hansen (Phillips, NE) put the Owls trailing by 7. In the last two innings Kenyon was able to grab 4 more runs putting them ahead 14-3. In the bottom of the fifth the Owls looked to start a rally as Calvin and Hansen both doubled followed by a sacrifice RBI by Alyssa Merone (Dover, NH). Anaiz Diaz (Tampa, FL) reached first on an error, scoring Hansen. The Owls rally fell short, falling to Kenyon 14-5.
On the mound:
Olivia Riitano (Abbot, ME) earned the start pitching the first three innings, allowing ten earned runs and ten hits. Hansen finished the final two innings allowing four earned runs. Emily Pater earned the win for Kenyon.
At the plate:
Calvin had two doubles on the day while Hansen had two hits also, with 3 RBI's.
Game 2 (10-2 - Wilmington)
How it happened:
The Owls jumped out to a promising start in the bottom of the first inning as Jordan Hansen (Phillips, NE) singled to right and advanced to third on ground outs which plated Anaiz Diaz (Tampa, FL) who drew a walk. A two RBI single to right center by Dalaney Anfinson (Green Cove Springs, FL) put the Owls ahead 2-0 going into the second. Wilmington answered back in the next two innings tying the game back up. Wilmington then was able put the game away scoring eight more runs in the last few innings.
On the mound:
Olivia Riitano (Abbot, ME) started the game throwing 6.2 innings allowing thirteen hits. Hansen came in in the 7th to finish the game.
At the plate:
Hansen and Anfinson lead the Owls with two hits each.
The Owls look to bounce back as they will play Alfred State at 9:00AM and Western Conn. State at 1:00PM.
