Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Owls Soar Past Roos in 3-0 NAC Victory

CANTON, NY – The UMPI Owls Women's Soccer team advances to 3-2-1 in the NAC with a 3-0 win over the SUNY Canton Roos. This brings the Owls regular season record to 4-3-4 on the year as the Roos now sit 0-3-2 in the NAC.

The Owls maintained possession throughout the majority of the game, starting early with a goal in the ninth minute of the game. A long lead pass by Hope Shea, leading to a header by first year Camryn Ala for her first goal of the year as the Owls took an early lead. The Owls would only score the one goal in the first half, despite the constant attacks, as they had six shots to the Roos one in the first 45 minutes. In the second half the Owls brought even more pressure with ten shots to the Roos one. Zhoreeen Malik would score her fourth and fifth goals of the season. Alexis Ireland earned and assist on the first goal of the second half, in the 56th minute. Madison Miller would assist the third and final goal of the game in the 88th minute, scored by Malik.

Malik would finish the games with four of her five shots on goal to lead the Owls attacks. Alexis Ireland finished with six shots on the game while the Owls team had 16 shots, 9 on goal. The Owls defense is what really stood out in their impressive shut out win, as they held the Roos to two shots, none of which were on goal. Savannah Rodriguez earned the win in the goal for UMPI.

The Owls will finish their cross divisional weekend with a game at Northern Vermont University – Johnson, before heading back up to Presque Isle.
