Owls Earn 4th NAC Win - Defeating Badgers 3-1

JOHNSON, VT – The UMPI Owls women's soccer team advances to a 4-2-1 North Atlantic Conference record. Their fourth win coming off a cross divisional game vs the NVU – Johnson Badgers, winning 3-1. This loss for the Badgers brings them to 0-3-3 in the NAC.

It was the Badgers who had the edge after the first 45 minutes of the game, despite the Owls maintaining possession the majority of the half. The Badgers would score late in the first half, scoring in the 38th minute. With the Owls down by one, they wasted no time to bounce back after coming out in the second half. Scoring in just the first 30 seconds of the second half, Alexis Ireland scored her tenth goal of the year, assisted by Ashlyn Wing. The tie was not enough as the Owls then followed with a goal in the 49th minute by Zhoreen Malik. This unassisted goal would be Malik's sixth on the year. UMPI didn't stop there as Ireland scored another goal in the 57th minute, assisted by Kassandra Nelson.

Ireland's two goals came off nine shots, six of which were on goal. Malik ended the game with two shots on goal. The Owls finished with 17 shots as a team, nine on goal to the Badgers six shots on goal. Savannah Rodriguez earned the win in goal for the Owls with five saves.

The Owls will host NAC opponent Thomas College for their next match up, Saturday Oct. 15th at Park Family Field.
