Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI Owls women's basketball team took on U-Maine at Fort Kent in the second of their back to back match ups on the weekend. During which, the Owls celebrated their lone senior, Marissa Valdivia Reagle from Seattle, WA. Reagle has played on the basketball team for four seasons, along with playing softball and soccer for the Owls during her time at UMPI. The Bengals were able to even the match up to 1-1 after a fourth quarter run put the game away, final score 74-61 Bengals.

The Bengals came out of the gate strong in the first quarter, causing the Owls to turn the ball over five times in the 10-minute quarter. Despite the struggles, the Owls only found themselves down three going into the second. The second quarter the Owls continued to struggle shooting from the field and found themselves down eight going into halftime. The game quickly changed pace on the court and on the scoreboard, as the Owls took control of the game off a 24-point quarter and holding the Bengals to 15 points. This gave the Owls a 1-point lead going into the final quarter of the game. Unfortunatly for UMPI their shooting struggles continued in the fourth as the Bengals were able to put the game away, winning by 13 points.

Reagle finished the game with nine points, six rebounds and five assists with only one turnover on the game. Emily Wheaton (Presque Isle, ME) yet again led the Owls in scoring with 17 points off 50% shooting from the field and 4-7 from the three. Sarah Musselman (Turlock, CA) and Paige Espling (Caribou, ME) both finished with 12 points while Espling added seven rebounds and Musselman finished a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
