CASTINE, ME – The Owls Volleyball team (9-14) faced a tough Maine Maritime Academy team (13-9).  UMPI was able to hang tough with the Mariners, but ultimately dropped all three sets (25-17, 26-24, 25-17).

The Mariners would have to fight from behind to win the second set and were efficient with their attack in the third (.364 PCT) to take the 3-0 victory.

UMPI was led by Maddi Thweatt (FR, Middleton, ID) who had seven kills and three digs.  Taylor Johnson (FR, Eagle, ID) would keep the Owls in the match with her defensive effort, racking up 12 digs, while Miranda Washinawatok (FR, Shawano, WI) would contribute 11 digs. 

The Owls travel to Bowdoin College on Saturday and face Middlebury at 3:30.  They will then take on their host at 6 pm.
