BANGOR, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Volleyball team (5-27) visited the Husson Eagles (15-14) in the opening round of the NAC playoffs.  The Eagle would sweep the match, and advance to the semi-finals with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-17) victory.

Husson would jump out to 12-1 lead in the first set, before UMPI could get their offense on track.  A comeback effort would fall short in the first set, and the Eagles would take the opener 25-14.  The Owls would step up in the second set, using their defense to keep them in the set.  The two teams would find themselves tied at 18, but the home team would battle to take the second set 25-22.  Husson would use the momentum built towards the end of the second set to go on an 11-4 run to start the third and take control of the set.  The Owls would show resiliency, and behind the efforts of senior Abby Jewett (Bass Harbor, ME) they would close the gap to 22-17 and put pressure on the Eagles once again.  Husson would slam the door on the Owls' season, finishing the set and the match with a 25-17 victory.

Jewett would lead the Owls' effort with 14 kills and ten digs.  Hannah Williams (SO, Park Falls, NS) and Esmeralda Galvan (FR, Bullhead City, AZ) would each finish with ten digs, while Laura Aroz (FR, Tucson, AZ) would collect 11 assists.

The Owls finish the season with a 5-27 record in Jonathon Bowman's first season as the Head Volleyball Coach, an improvement from 4-22 a year ago.
