Box Score 2 CASTINE, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Volleyball team's season came to an end last night, as they dropped a double header to Maine Maritime.
Maine Maritime def. UMPI 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-7)
In the first set the Mariners jumped out to a 5-0 lead. After a five-point run with three-straight service aces made it 14-2, the Mariners never looked back taking the 25-13 set one victory. The Mariners cruised to victories in set two and three, to win the match.
Gillian O'Neal (JR, Burbank, CA) led the Mariners with 10 kills, while Melissa Spaulding (FR, Fairbanks, AK) added a game-high 17 assists. Tess Clark (FR, Spring, TX) and Spaulding each added four aces for the Mariners.
UMPI's
Morgan Swan (SR, Caribou, ME) led all players with eight digs, while
Abby Jewett (JR, Bass Harbor, ME) recorded a team high three kills and added five digs.

The Mariners grabbed the first set victory in game two, 25-15. In the second set, the Owls found momentum and made a good run, but the Mariners grabbed the 25-20 win, and took the third set 25-8 to claim the doubleheader.
O'Neal led the Mariners once again with 12 kills and Spaulding added 27 assists and grabbed a team-best seven digs while tallying three aces.
Jewett and Swan added three kills each for the Owls, and Swan chipped in with seven digs. Hannah Williams (FR, Park Falls, NS) added 6 assists.
Owls Volleyball finishes the 2015 campaign with a 4-22 record, doubling their win total from their 2-25 season just a year ago. It took some time for the Owls to find their footing, but a win against Pine Minor got on September 20th was the first step in the right direction. The UMPI team finished the season winning three of their last ten. The Owls will graduate three players from this year's team, Morgan Swan, Amanda Allen, Katie Patenaude, and Hannah Boyce.
