Box Score (FORT KENT, ME) -- Sophomore Erika Christensen scored 19 points and grabbed a career-high 27 rebounds to help lead U-Maine-Fort Kent past U-Maine-Presque Isle, 62-47 in a USCAA match-up from Fort Kent Wednesday evening.
UMFK improves to 6-4 on the year. Presque Isle drops to 0-6.
UMFK put the game out of reach early by building a 37-13 lead. The Owls were their own worst enemy, coming out of the games and shooting 4-28 through the opening 20 minutes.
The Owls did come out and put up a fight in the 2nd half. Presque Isle ran off the first 6 points out of the locker room which prompted a quick timeout from Bengals' coach Bradley Holabird. At one point in the 2nd half, Presque Isle were able to trim 14 points off of the 24-point halftime hole they had dug for themselves. Although the Owls outscored UMFK 34-25 in the 2nd half, they never posed a serious threat to the Fort Kent lead.
Me.-Presque Isle was led by Doni Yendriga (Fr./Conneaut, ME) who had 17 points and 7 boards.
The Owls will return to action this Sunday, December 9th, when they will travel to Central Maine Community College. Tip time is set for 4pm.
