Presque Isle, ME 9/18/11 – Craig Maffei (Sr./Readfield, ME) scored a goal in the last five minutes of regulation for the University of Maine-Presque Isle men's soccer team to pull within a goal of visiting University of Maine-Machias on Sunday.  The Owls had opportunities in the flurry of action that followed but were unable to break through again before the clock hit zeros as the Clippers prevailed, 2-1.

The loss drops UMPI's season record to 2-4. Machias improves to 4-3.

The Clippers opened the scoring just under 12 minutes into the game when Kris Wignes placed a header past goalkeeper Josh MacKinnon (So./Merigomish, NS) off a corner kick.  The Clippers defense held the Owls in check for much of the game only allowing 3 shots on goal in the entire contest.

UMPI will play again next Saturday, September, 24th when they host a rematch with USCAA #1 University of Maine-Fort Kent. It will be Homecoming for the Owls. Game time is set for 2:00pm.
