Lyndonville, VT – The Owls Volleyball team finished their Vermont trip with a 6-0 sweep in the two matches vs Northern Vermont University – Lyndon. A big North Atlantic Conference Divisional win, gives the Owls the advantage as they near the playoffs. The Owls won the first match, 25-13, 25-16, 25-15. Winning the second match, 25-3, 25-17, 25-16.
UMPI – 3 vs Lyndon – 0: 25-13, 25-16, 25-15
How it happened: The Owls came out of the gate with an early run, and never looked back. The Owls offense as well as their serves led to a first match win, finishing with 18 kills as a team and 14 service aces.
Key Performances: Alexis Engel led the Owls in kills with seven, to go along with her three service aces, giving her ten points on the match. Also adding a team high seven digs, rounding out her all-around performance. Hailey Kelly led the team with 13 of the teams 16 assists, also adding two kills for herself and zero errors throughout the match.
UMPI – 3 vs Lyndon – 0: 25-3, 25-17, 25-16
How it happened: Hailey Kelly led this match as she helped the Owls gain their leads behind her serves. Finishing the match with eight service aces, including serving 19 straight points in the first set, to lead the Owls run as they took the first set 25-7. The Owls continued their runs in the following two matches, with a team total of 16 service aces and 21 kills.
Key Performances: To go along with her eight service aces, Hailey Kelly had another team high 17 assists, of the teams 18. Rachel Walker led the Owls with six kills on 13 attempts, while Alexis Engel finished with 12 digs, leading the team on the defensive end.
