POULTNEY, VT – The Owls Volleyball team (9-13) would end up taking three wins on the weekend.  UMPI would sweep the host team Green Mountain on Friday night, before sweeping Johnson State and beating SUNY Delhi by a score of 3-1 on Saturday.

UMPI def. Green Mountain 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-13)

The opening set would be tied at 14 before the Owls would make a run to open up a 6-point lead, vaulting them to an opening set win.  The momentum would carry over to the second as they started strong and would jump out to an 8-1 lead in the early going.  Another run late would allow UMPI to cruise to a win in the second set.  The third set would follow the same pattern, an early run would get the Owls a comfortable lead, and they would finish strong to earn the sweep.

Miranda Washinawatok (FR, Shawano, WI) would lead the Owls offense, tallying ten kills while adding six digs.  Maddi Thweatt (FR, Middleton, ID) collected seven kills to go with her six digs.  Ashlon Stroub (FR, Bakerfield, CA) would help shore up the Owls defensively, recording 11 digs.  Brittney Harper (FR, East Mountain, NS) would set up the offense with 23 assists.

UMPI def. Johnson St. 3-0 (25-8, 25-4, 25-7)
