In the second match, the Owls showed some life, using some bench spark from Leslie Theriault, who finished the match with seven kills, two solo blocks, and a block assist. Despite dropping the first two games, Presque Isle rallied for a third-game victory to give the Homecoming crowd hope.
In Game 4, Machias was able to get command behind strong offensive kills from Leonard and three consecutive service aces from Alissa Campbell. Abby Jewett stood out for the Owls on defense, grabbing seven digs in the second match.
The sweep moves the Clippers to 3-4 on the season, while UMPI drops to 0-13. The women next play Sunday, September 27, at Lyndon State.
