Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI Women's Soccer team adds another Aroostook County player to their roster. Madison Miller is to join the Owls roster in fall of 2021. Miller played three years at Washburn High School before transferring to Caribou High School to finish her high school career.
During her time at Washburn, Miller earned a spot on the All-Aroostook Team in her first three years, and made the Penobscot Valley Conference All-Academic Team her senior year at Caribou. The Miller family has a long history at UMPI, as Madison's father is a future Hall of Fame Inductee for the men's soccer team.
Miller explained in more detail in her decision to attend UMPI, "I applied to the University of Maine at Presque Isle, because so many of my family members went. I have heard great things about the business program, and its right near home. Ever since I was young, I have always told myself I was going to play soccer in college. I have heard many great things about the coach and the girls on the UMPI soccer team. I am looking forward to playing with them in the coming fall." Miller continued, "My father, Greg Miller, is going to be inducted into the hall of fame for soccer at UMPI this fall. I hope to follow in his footsteps and become a great player like he was."
Caribou High School coach, Mark Shea spoke about Miller, "Maddie is a consistent contributor who knows the game well. Tenacious both on and off the ball, she has the ability to make a major impact in an instant."
Head Coach at UMPI Aaron Marston talked about his new player. "We are very excited that Maddie has chosen to join us. She is a great kid and a hard worker with a great touch in small spaces. She is an unselfish player as well and can really open things up with her one and two touch passing. We are looking for Maddie to help us right away."
