Castine, ME – The Owls finished their weekend double header match up against Maine Maritime Academy. The Mariners won the second East Division North Atlantic Conference game 83-47, finishing the weekend 2-0. The Owls now drop to 2-5 in the NAC and 7-6 on the season.
The Owls kept the game tight early as they battled back and forth in the first quarter with a full team effort as five Owls players scored in the first ten minutes. The Mariners, with just a three-point lead going into the second quarter, shot the lights out to extend their lead off a 4-7 stretch from three. Coming out of halftime, the Mariners continued their hot shooting as they scored 26 points in the third quarter while holding the Owls to only six points. Eventually taking the win, 83-47.
Alexis Ireland (Howland, ME) led the Owls with ten points and 12 rebounds to go along with her impressive six steals. Paige Espling (Caribou, ME) finished with eight points and eight rebounds with two more blocks on the weekend.
The Owls head home to host non-conference opponent Fisher College out of Boston, Mass.
