Norwich, NH – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls Women's basketball team played in their second game against the tournament host Norwich University. After a back and forth battle the Owls would lose 75-52, as Norwich finished with a strong fourth quarter.
After only down two in the first quarter, led by Hunter Mercier's (So. Fairfield, ME) ten points on 4-6 shooting, brought the score to 19-17. Norwich pick it up on both ends of the floor with a big second half shooting 50% from the field and holding the Owls to only two made field goals, bringing the lead to 34-25. Norwich never looked back after halftime, as they extended their lead in both the third and fourth quarters.
The Owls were led by Marissa Valdivia Reagle (Jr. Seattle, WA) with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Mercier finished with ten points off 50% shooting.
The Owls will head home for the week before heading to U-Maine at Farmington for their first conference games of the year. Games will be Friday and Saturday, tip off at 5:30 and 1:00pm.
