AD3I All-Independent Softball Teams Announced

OVERLAND PARK, KS – The Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) released the Softball All-Independent Teams on Friday.  The University of Maine at Presque Isle was represented with two First Team All-Independent selections and three Second Team All-Independent selections.

Sara Packard (JR, St. Albans, ME) was selected to the First Team All-Independents as a pticher.  Sara started every game for the Owls as a pitcher, and pitched in all but two and two-thirds innings throughout the season.  She amassed 207 strikeouts this season and ended with a 3.16 ERA.  She also had a good season offensively, finishing the year with a .350 batting average.  Sara hit four homeruns and had 28 RBI this season.

Ariel Williams (FR, Frisco, TX) was selected First Team All-Independent as an outfielder.  Batting in the leadoff position for UMPI, she had a .374 average and .425 on base percentage.  Ariel would drive in 24 runs and steal nine bases this season.  She led the team in doubles (11) and hits (52) this season.

Jordi Legassie (SO, Presque Isle, ME) was honored with a Second Team All-Independent selection as a shorstop.  Jordi hit for a .350 average and scored 26 runs this season.  She stole nine bases and drove in 15 runs for UMPI.

Outfielder Nicole Marucci (JR, Naples, ME) also got Second Team All-Indpendent honors.  Nicole led the team in batting average (.393), on base percentage (.445), slugging percentage (.664), triples (4), RBI (30), and homeruns (4 – tied) this season.  She would also steal nine bases and nine doubles to her totals this season.

Jackie Peers (FR, Limestone, ME) was selected to the Second Team All-Independents as a second baseman.  Jackie hit .333 this season and had a .389 on base percentage.  She would steal eight bases and drive in 11 runs for the Owls this season.
