Lynn, MA --  The Owls swept a doubleheader with Fisher College, winning 7-6 and 3-2 Sunday afternoon.

Game one: UMPI 7 Fisher 6

The Owls needed extra innings to wrestle game one from the Falcons, as freshman Carly Bell came up with the clutch hit to knock in the eventual winning run.

With the game tied 4-4, Jessica Campbell and Amanda Allen were in scoring position and Campbell scored on a hard hit by Ashley Dube that the Falcon second baseman fumbled. Bell next singled to center scoring Allen and Dube to give the Owls a 7-4 lead.

The Falcons would mount a comeback, scoring two runs of their own in the final frame, but Sara Packard would strike out two Falcons to squash the rally and take game one 7-6.  Packard struck out 12 Falcons with no walks in game one, setting a career high for strikeouts.

Game two:  UMPI 3 Fisher 2

Freshman Packard gave up 7 hits in her seven innings of work to take the win for the Owls, while classmate Bell continued her hot hitting going 2-for-4 and Junior Jessica Campbell went 2-for-3 to cement the sweep of the doubleheader for the Owls.

The Owls are now 11-11 and next play Gordon College Monday.
