Staunton, VA  --  The Flying Squirrels of Mary Baldwin College swept a doubleheader from the visiting Owls of Presque Isle 12-3, and 8-0 Tuesday Afternoon.

GAME ONE: Mary Baldwin 12 UMPI 3

The Owls used a Shannon Brown double sandwiched between two walks, a passed ball and an error on a ball hit by Katie Patenaude to take the lead, 3-0 in the top half of the first.  Mary Baldwin would tighten the screws after the ugly defensive first inning and lock down the Owl bats the rest of the way, limiting Presque Isle to only 3 more hits in game one.

Game one was still within reach for the Owls until the 4th inning.  With Mary Baldwin leading 4-3, the Flying Squirrels erupted for 8 runs-3 unearned, to cement the victory.  MBC First sacker Jonquil Brown hit a home run, Kayla Wheeler a triple and the Flying Squirrels used 2 Owl errors to add to their advantage and up the score to 12-3.

Sara Packard pitched a complete game, giving up 12 hits and 9 earned runs.  Brown added two hits and Patenaude had 2 RBI in the game.

GAME TWO: Mary Baldwin 8  UMPI 0

With one out in the first inning of game two, Mary Baldwin cleanup hitter Montana Welcher singled to left to score 2 runs and the Flying Squirrels would add 6 runs in the remaining frames to take an 8-0 victory.

Senior Whitney Donovan toed the mound for Presque Isle, giving up 5 earned runs in 3 innings of work.  Junior Amanda Allen replaced Donovan and got her first work in the circle for the Owls, giving up 2 earned runs in her 1+ innings.

Carly Bell and Dani Smith had two hits each and Jessica Campbell and Allen also had base hits for the Owls.
