Atlanta, GA -- Amanda Allen was named to the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) All-Conference Team recently at the Conference awards banquet.

The sophomore outfielder hit .306 and was the prototypical leadoff hitter for the Blue & Gold, stealing nine bases and leading the Owls with 26 runs scored, ranking in the GSAC top-ten in both "hustle" categories.

True to the form of a dominate top of the lineup hitter, Allen started the season with a six game hitting streak and never stopped getting on base from there on out.  Allen got on base at a .398 clip, played an outstanding leftfield and scored runs in 18 of the Owls 30 games.

Alexis Lawley of Finlandia was named Player of the Year and Holly Jones of Agnes Scott was named Pitcher of the Year.  Jones led Anges Scott into NCAA tournament play against number 15-ranked Emory University, losing 5-1 in the NCAA tournament opener.

Several Owls were lauded for their work in the classroom.  Jessica Campbell, Taylor Cochran, Brittany Luetjen and Kathryn Patenaude were named to the GSAC All-Academic Team.

Junior shortstop Whitney Donovan was recognized for her class and character on the field and in the dugout with a spot on the GSAC All-Sportsmanship Team as well.
