Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI Owls men's soccer team competed against North Atlantic Conference Cross-Divisional opponent SUNY Canton Roos, to finish off the weekend. The Owls lost to the Roos 2-0 in the physical game, moving the Owls to 1-6 in the NAC, as the Roos advance to 3-3-1 in the NAC.
Canton came out aggressive to start the match, although the Owls were able to answer as the teams began to battle at mid-field. The Roos soon gained the upper hand with a goal in the 17th minute. The teams continued to battle, each team threating the others net. It wasn't until the late in the first half where Canton was able to put another goal in the back of the net to give them their second and final goal in the 40th minute.
Canton finished the game with 22 shots, 11 of which were on goal, as Keith Mank (Raymond, ME), in goal for the Owls, was able to record seven saves. While to Owls recorded nine shots, all of which were on goal.
The Owls travel down to Thomas College next, in a big divisional NAC match up, Saturday October 16 at 4:00PM.
