Shyquinn Dix (Jr. Stamford, CT) earned second team All-State Honors in the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association voting. Dix finished the year averaging 16.8 points per game, 8th in the state. Dix helped lead the Owls to their first NAC playoff win, in their first round 87-86 win vs Thomas College.
To go along with Dix's 16.8 points per game, he shot 48.1% from the field, 38.2% from three and 80.3% from the free throw line (88.9% in conference play), averaged 6.5 rebounds per game. Dix also made it in the top five in assists per game and steals per game, averaging 4.0 assists per game (5th in the state) and 1.8 steals per game (4th in the state). Dix also finished the season with a 2.0 assist to turnover ratio, scored his 1,000th point and made the North Atlantic Conference first team honors.
The Owls men's basketball team finished 6th in the final coaches poll of the season. Putting the Owls just four points out of the top five, UMPI received votes above schools such as, Husson, Thomas, Bowdoin and Saint Joseph's.
To go along with Dix's achievement, teammate, Te'Von Hines (Sr. Alexandria, VA) finished 5th in the state in field goal percentage, with an impressive 51.3% from the field in his 12.6 points per game.
