BOSTON, MA – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls (13-11) completed their regular season schedule on the road, dropping a decision to the Fisher Falcons (16-11) by a score of 102-75.
The Owls would find themselves down early as the Falcons built a 15 point lead in the first half. UMPI would close that lead down to four points, but Fisher would end the half on a 13-9 run to jump out to an eight point lead at half.
UMPI would continue to fight and Chase Vicaire (SR, Mattawamkeag, ME) would hit a three point shot to make the score 56-51 with just under 14 minutes left to play. The Owls would go on a four minute scoring drought at that point, and by the time they were able to get back into an offensive rhythm, the Falcons had opened up a 17 point lead which they would not give up. Fisher would lead throughout the game and end up with a 27 point victory at home.
Tyler Shular (SR, Norwalk, CT) had a remarkable game, scoring 43 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Malik Wilson would end up with a double-double for Fisher, scoring ten points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
For the Owls, Kevin Collins (SO, Fort Washington, MD) would score 16 points, have four assists, and grab three rebounds. Maurice Harris (SO, Miami, FL) would also score 16 and grab four rebounds. Vicaire would end the day with 15 points.
The Owls have concluded their regular season schedule. UMPI is currently ranked 8th in the latest USCAA Division 2 poll. The Owls will await the February 24th selection show to see if they will get a chance to participate in post season play.
