(WATERVILLE, ME) -- Colby College seniors Kyle Donovan, Ben Foreman (Los Angeles, Calif.), Alex Swanson, and Eric Beaulieu combined for 48 points in their final game as the Mules took a 77-67 non-conference men's basketball win over University of Maine at Presque Isle on Tuesday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
Colby finished the season at 7-17 overall, while the Owls fall to 3-16.
UMPI center Patrick Manifold (Jr./Great Yarmouth, UK) led all scorers and rebounders with 28 points and nine boards. He was 9-for-15 from the field and 9-for-10 from the foul line. Brad Trask (Jr./Easton, ME) and Brennen Morton (Sr./Chepachet, R.I.) both had 11 points, while Gerardo Vasquez (Jr./Houston, TX) finished with 10 points.
The Owls led 25-24 when Manifold hit a jumper with 5:57 to intermission. The Mules, though, received seven points from Donovan as part of an 11-0 run to take the lead for good at 35-25 with 2:55 to play.
The Mules took a 38-29 lead into halftime and then scored the opening nine points of the half on two 3-point shots by Foreman and one from O'Neil for a 49-29 margin. UMPI chipped away at the lead over the final 10 minutes of the game, but never got closer than the 10-point margin at the end of the contest.
The Owls will leave for Vermont on Thursday in preparation to close out the 2011-12 campaign against Vermont Tech on Friday February 17th. Gametime will be 7:30.
