UMPI Baseball Gets Four Commitments

Presque Isle, ME – Head Baseball Coach Roger Stinson is pleased to announce four student-athletes who will attend UMPI this Fall and will be playing baseball for the Owls.


Jordan Powell, a pitcher from United Christian Academy in Virginia has agreed to attend UMPI. Powell, from Stanardsville, VA had a record of 9-1 this past Spring Season with an incredible 1.30 ERA. Jordan also, recorded a no-hitter in this year's State Quarterfinal game. He was named VACA State Player of The Year and the State Tournament Most Valuable Player.

"I am looking forward to the opportunity Coach Stinson is giving me to play the game I love," Stated Powell. Jordan is undecided at this time for his Major.


Joseph Blake is also from Stanardsville, Virginia and attended the United Christian Academy. Blake played high school ball under Coach Phillip Powell and is a shortstop and right handed pitcher.

 "Joey is a hard working, get after it everyday, type of player. He has great hands and is a gap to gap hitter. Joey is very athletic and great competitor," said Coach Powell.

Blake will major in Agri-Business while at UMPI.


Stanley Grierson is a recent graduate of Mount Desert Island High School and resides in Bass Harbor, Maine. Stanley played 4 years of varsity baseball for the Trojans, his Freshman and Sophomore season's under Coach Mike Swanson and the past 2 years under Coach Andy Pooler. Grierson is a pitcher and outfielder.

"Win or lose you'll always get 100% out of me on every pitch and every play," said Grierson who is looking forward to joining the Owls Program.


Bailey Corley is a right handed pitcher and 1st baseman from Lake Stevens, Washington. Bailey played his high school baseball at Lake Stevens High School under Coach Josh White.

"I am excited to come to UMPI in the fall and get to work both on the field and in the classroom. Go Owls!" stated Corley when asked about committing to Me-Presque Isle. Bailey will major in Communications.
