Presque Isle, ME - The University of Maine at Presque Isle Baseball Team and Head Coach Roger Stinson continue to build their 2019-2020 roster with the addition of four more recruits who have committed to the UMPI Program.
Coach Stinson is pleased to announce that Alex Graham, Justin Farmer, Dakota Morrow and Zikiah Pettiford will be joining the Owls in the Fall.
Graham, is a catcher and 3rd baseman from Rothesay, NB, Canada. "It'll be a dream for me to be able to play NCAA baseball, and pursue my passion," said Graham. "I'm excited to see what my freshman season will bring for me, and I am looking forward to my personal progression as a player and an athlete as an Owl."
"I had the pleasure to coach Alex Graham for two years at Rothesay High School, and in that time it was evident that he had a strong desire to not only perform for his team, but to take them to the next level. Alex is an excellent receiver behind the plate, and has been able to control the running game with a canon of an arm. Alex is also a force to be reckoned with at the plate, he possesses some of the most power I've seen for a young athlete at his age. Alex's presence was always very positive and he got along with each of his teammates extremely well. He leads by example and always gives his 110%. Very excited to see what he will be able to accomplish at the University of Maine at Presque Isle as they are gaining a very valuable player." said High School Coach Connor Estabrooks.
Graham will major in Exercise Science.
Justin Farmer is a left-handed pitcher from Middleburg, Florida who also, plays 1st base and the outfield. Farmer played 4 years of baseball at Ridgeview High School under Coach John Sgromolo and has played Travel Ball for the Grizzlies under Coaches Brian Burns and Ricky Jones.
"Justin is dynamic on the baseball field and will give the Owls 100% effort every time he takes the field," stated Coach Jones.
Farmer will be majoring in Business while at UMPI.
A favorite quote of Justin's is "Don't aspire to be the best on the team, aspire to be the best for the team."
Dakota Morrow is currently a senior at Presque Isle High School. Morrow is a pitcher and a 3rd baseman from Hamlin, Maine.
"Playing baseball for the Owls is a honor. I love the sport of Baseball and I am very glad I can continue to play the sport I love," stated Morrow on his committment to the UMPI Baseball Program.
Morrow will be majoring in Criminal Justice.
Zikiah Pettiford is from Graham, North Carolina where he is a senior at Graham High School and played his baseball for Coach Bob Grant. Pettiford is a centerfielder and batted a superb .452 for his High School Team this Spring.
"After high school I wasn't sure if I would be playing baseball again but UMPI gave me that opportunity. I couldn't be more grateful," said Pettiford.
He will be in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program at UMPI.
