The Owls dropped a pair of games to the Patriots of the University of Valley Forge, losing 5-2, and 7-5.

Game One:  Valley Forge 5 UMPI 2

Brady Rowe had 3 hits and Adam Begos added 2 base knocks, but the Owls could not string together a rally among their 7 hits.

Freshman Saul Nunez went 5 innings, giving up just 6 hits, striking out 8.  Jesus Garcia and Austin Bernier added hits in game one.

Game Two:  Valley Forge 7 UMPI 5

Behind Senior hurler Ghaz Sailors, the Owls fared a bit better the batters box in game two.  Despite giving up 3 runs to the Patriots in the bottom of the first, the Blue & Gold came out hitting, scoring runs in the next 3 frames to tie the game in their top of the 4th.

Down 5-3, the Owls came to bat in the fourth and with 2 outs showed show offensive punch.  Catcher Connor Thibeault smacked a single to left and stole second.  Tommy Collins, one of the few upperclassmen on the roster, also singled to set up Brady Rowe with runners in scoring position.  Rowe, smoking hot after 3 hits in game one, delivered a single scoring both Thibeault and Collins.  The game tying rally ended with Rowe, as the next Owl grounded out.

The Patriots answered right back in the bottom of the 4th after the Owls tied the game at 5-5.  Valley Forge used two singles and an RBI double from 3B Jared Boothman to take the lead back in their half of the 4th.

The Patriots pitching staff would hold the Owls to one hit-a single from Adam Begos, over the last 3 innings to take the victory 7-5.

The Owls will now travel back to Northern Maine, with scheduled games cancelled for this weekend.
