Fort Fairfield’s Madison Bridges the Latest to Join UMPI Women’s Soccer

PRESQUE ISLE, ME

UMPI Women's Soccer Head Coach John Ala announced his fourth recruit commitment of this offseason—another Aroostook County face, and the second from Fort Fairfield High School. Madison Bridges will join her high school teammate Hannah Chartier and becomes the latest Tiger to join the squad.

Madison spent time at Easton High School, even getting the call up in eighth grade, before transferring to Fort Fairfield for her senior year. In her time with the Bears and Tigers, she played primarily in the middle third but was an offensive threat. Madison was three-time All-Aroostook selection in her Sophomore, Junior and Senior seasons. She was a two-time team captain during those last two years as well.

With the Tigers this past fall, Madison was a big part of a Fort Fairfield team that won their quarterfinal game over Wisdom 3-2. It was the program's first semifinal berth since 2015. Although they lost the next round to perennial powerhouse Ashland, it was a very successful season thanks in large part to Madison's competitive drive and leadership.

"Her passion and will to win is contagious and I'm happy that she will continue to learn and grow under the guidance of one of the best coaches in the state, Coach Ala. I'm looking forward to seeing what great things she will bring to the pitch for the Owls this upcoming season," Fort Fairfield girls head coach Shyla Churchill said.

"I'm really looking forward to playing soccer this fall at UMPI. Coach Ala is an amazing coach, and I can't wait to see how much I can improve this season," Madison said.

Madison will graduate this coming June and has been accepted into the Psychology program. The UMPI community welcomes her as the newest addition to the Owls family.
