FORT KENT, ME
The UMPI Women's Soccer Team took to the field for the second straight day, now at the opposite end of the state of Maine. They would face the Bengals of UMFK for their last non-conference matchup of the season.
The offense struggled to get in sync in this one for both sides but especially the Owls, who were outshot 10-1 in the first half. UMFK got on the board in the 21st minute and the score remained at 1-0 entering halftime.
In the second half, UMPI minimized the Fort Kent attack allowing just seven shots, but the Bengals found the board 8 minutes in to make it 2-0. The lead was not insurmountable, but UMPI managed just three shots in the second half and couldn't squeak any across. While the Bengals treaded water and iced the game with a 2-0 score. The Owls had just one shot on goal in the game, courtesy of Monica McLaughlin. Camryn Ala, Alexis Ireland, and Ella McCarthy had the other three shots for UMPI.
The Owls fall to 3-7-2 on the season and will have two more chances to get back in the win column before the regular season concludes. They will next travel to take on University of Maine at Farmington on Wednesday afternoon for a 3:30pm start.
