Owls Lose to falcons in Late Game Comeback

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The Owls women's soccer team fights vs the Falcons of Fisher College in a non-conference match. A late goal by the Falcons gave them the edge and the 3-2 win. The Owls fall to 0-6 on the year as the Falcons advance to 2-3 on the year.
 
The Falcons struck first in the first half with a goal in the 33rd minute of the game to give them a 1-0 lead going into the half. Forward Alexis Ireland would get the Owls first goal in the 52nd minute of the game off a beautiful assist from deep by senior defender Monica McLaughlin. Ireland was not done as she scored another goal from deep off a Camryn Ala assist to give UMPI the 2-1 lead. In just 20 seconds the Falcons were able to bounce right back and tie the game back up, two goals each. The teams battled back and forth for the remainder of the game, before the Falcons scored the game-winning goal in the 79th minute of the game.
 
The Falcons finished the game with 11 shots and seven on goal to the Owls six shots and five shots on goal. With Ireland's two goals, she led the Owls on the offensive end, finishing the game with four shots and three on goal. McLaughlin got on the stat sheet with her assist, although she was the Owls anchor on the defensive end along with Amelia Ivey and others. Marissa Havey spent the duration in goal for UMPI, finishing the game with four saves.
 
 
Next Up: The Owls will head down to Farmington to face the Beavers in a NAC match up.
