Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Beats SUNY Cobleskill 3-0

PRESQUE ISLE, ME – The Owls women's soccer team defeated North Atlantic Conference cross divisional opponent SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers, 3-0. This was the first game of the Owls home weekend, as they advance to 1-2 in the NAC and 2-2-3 on the year, while the Fighting Tigers move to 0-1-1 in the NAC.

It was all UMPI Owls in the first half, as they put up their three goals in the first half and finishing the half with 11 shots to the Tigers one. It was Alexis Ireland who started the scoring off for the Owls, scoring in the 25th minute of the game, assisted by Zhoreen Malik. Just five game minutes late, Ireland returned the favor as she assisted Malik for the Owls second goal of the day in the 30th minute. Again just two minutes later, it was Alexis Ireland yet again scoring to give UMPI a 3-0 lead. The Owls would sit back in the second half as the wind was in their face, as they were able to hold off the Tigers to complete the shutout.

Malik led the Owls with four shots on goal while Ireland had three shots on goal, two of which ended in a goal. The Owls would finish the game with eight shots on goal to the Fighting Tigers one. Savannah Rodriguez earned the win in the net with her one save.

The Owls will continue hosting their NAC cross divisional opponents, as they host SUNY Delhi Sunday.
