Softball Adds Billings to there Roster

Rachel Billings
Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI Owls Softball team announces their newest addition to their 2022-23 roster. Rachel Billings of Lehi, Utah joins the Owls this fall. Billings plans to study Psychology and Criminal Justice while at UMPI.

The infielder primarily plays the corners and behind the plate, while in her time at her former school, she played all over the field. Billings played a junior college for her first two years under Coach Kristin Silva, playing at Lamar Community College. While playing there she continued to play travel ball with her coach Dave Hanny, of the Utah Eclipse Fastpitch Program. "Rachel is one of the most versatile players I have coached. She is a playmaker and I play her at C, 3B, SS, 1B, and OF with no hesitation. She plays for the love of the game and has a high softball IQ. She is a leader on and off the field."

"I am very grateful to be able to continue my academic and athletic career at UMPI! I'm joining a great program that I'm very excited for the opportunities that await me!" Said Billings when asked about joining the Owls. Head Coach Alissa Edwards joined in to talk about her newest addition to the program. "I'm thrilled to add Rachel to our program this fall. Transferring from a Junior College brings college level experience, as well as even more leadership to our program. I'm very excited to work with Rachel and see the impact she can make here at UMPI on and off the field."

The whole UMPI Community, the Owls athletics program and the softball team would like to welcome Rachel Billings to the UMPI Family.
