The UMPI men's track and field team made a strong showing at the Thomas College Small College Invitational on Sunday. The Owls' 47 points placed them fifth of the nine teams in attendance. School records were set by Connor Hrynuk (Boonville, NY in the 5000m (18:31.39), Paul Kaplan (Embden, ME.) in the discus (33.79m/110-10), Andrew Hunt in the 1500m (4:41.11), and by the 4 x 800m team of Hunt (Peterborough, NH), Kyle Davis (Addison, ME), Devon Maynard (Perham, ME), and Matthew Payan (Auburn, NH) with their time of 9:27.12. Scoring points were Hrynuk (5000m, 4th place, 4 points), Kaplan (discus, 2nd place, 8 points and triple jump, 2nd place, 8 points), Zack Boyle (Brunswick, ME - javelin, 2nd place, 8 points), Tyler Beach (Kennetcook, NS – javelin, 6th place, 2 points), Hunt (1500m, 5th place – 3 points), and Will Griffiths (200m – 6 points). The 4x800m team placed second in scoring 8 points.

Next week the Owls return to Fitchburg State University as they work into the final week of training leading up to the NAC Championships to be held in conjunction with the GNAC and the NEC at Regis College in Weston, MA on April 27th and 28th.
