Machias, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Women's Volleyball Team traveled to UM-Machias for two Matches on Wednesday afternoon and evening. These were the first games of the season for both squads and the UMPI Owls (2-0) came out victorious in the duel event over the Clippers (0-2).  UMPI recorded a 25-11, 25-14, and 25-13 sweep of the 1^st Match. In the 2^nd best of five Match the Owls once again won in 3 straight sets by the scores 25-13, 25-11 and 25-10.

In the 1^st match Devine Hoskie (Jr. Shonto, AZ) led the Owls with 11 Kills and Miranda Washinawatok (So. Shawano, WI) added 10 Kills. On the defensive end, Maddi Thweatt (So. Middleton, ID) recorded 7 Digs.

The 2^nd Match saw Washinawatok lead the way again for UMPI with 15 Kills followed closely by Devine Hoskie with 14. Washinawatok added 10 Digs and Ashlon Stroub (So. Bakersfield, CA) had 6. Setter Laura Aroz (Jr. Tucson, AZ) led the Owls with 8 assists.

ME-Presque Isle will be on the road this weekend with Volleyball Matches at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts on Friday September 7^th and at UMass-Boston on Saturday September 8^th. The Owls will play Brandeis (3-1) Friday at 5:00PM followed by a Match with Gordon College (4-2) at 7:00PM. UMPI will play UMass-Boston (4-0) Saturday afternoon at 1:00PM.
