Presque Isle, ME -  The UMPI Owls Women's Volleyball Team evened their season record at (4-4) with a 3 to 0 sweep over the UMM Clippers this afternoon at Wieden Hall. This marked the second time in the 2018 season that the Owls swept Me-Machias (3-7) in three straight sets, doing so both at Machias and at The University of Maine at Presque Isle. 

UMPI was on the offensive attack right from the start setting the tone quickly for today's match. The Owls came out strong winning the 1st set 25-13 and followed that up with a 25-17 score in set #2, and finished out the match with a 25-7 win of the 3rd set. 6'0" Outside Hitter Miranda Washinawatok (So. Shawano, WI) once again led the offense with a team high 14 kills and Devine Hoskie (Jr. Shonto, AZ) followed with 10 kills. Savanna Deavult ((Fr. Hanford, CA) added 3. Laura Aroz (Jr. Tucson, AZ) was instrumental in setting up her teammates, recording 22 assists in the match. The Owls setter continuously put her teammates in good scoring position. Defensively Maddi Tweatt had a team high 4 digs for UMPI.

The Clippers got a solid performance from Senior Middle Hitter Colleen Kostovick with 4 kills, 2 digs and 1 block. Four players recorded 3 digs each including Caitlyn Reynolds, Alexis Prescott, Reese Thompson and Kalyn Otto.

Next up: UMPI will travel to The University of Southern Maine in Gorham on September 22nd to face Castleton State at 2:00PM, followed by a match vs. the host USM Huskies at 4:00PM. Me-Presque Isle will play at Unity College on Sunday, September 23rd against the Unity Rams and Green Mountain College Eagles with game times still to be determined.
