University of Maine at Presque Isle Athletics is excited to announce the return of spectators for outdoor Fall competitions. Policies for spectators in indoor settings will be reassessed in late September as the Owls' first indoor competition will be Women's Volleyball on Wednesday, October 6th when our women take on the MMA Mariners in a North Atlantic Conference showdown. The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will kick off the home events this Saturday, September 4th.
For all outdoor fall competitions, spectators are not allowed to be in team areas, and we ask that they keep a safe distance from the field or course of play. Outside spectators are not allowed to enter UMPI buildings and we ask that they park in the Tennis Court Parking lot, which is located directly next to the Park Family Field. Spectator policies could change depending on current trends and the most recent guidance from the Maine CDC, University of Maine System, and the NCAA.
"We couldn't be happier to have fans back on campus to support our Owls as they compete this fall," said Executive Director of Athletics Dan Kane. "Our campus and Presque Isle community has always had tremendous support for our athletic teams, and it will be great to have our fans back to help create that UMPI home atmosphere that makes our home contests so special."
Whenever UMPI athletic teams travel for competitions, spectators are expected to adhere to the host initiation's most current policies. UMPI fans should always ask for an institution's policies before traveling as every campus is different and some campuses are not currently allowing visiting team spectators.
