| Standish, ME - The University of Maine at Presque Isle women's volleyball team defeated the Bengals of UMaine Fort Kent, 3-1, in the Championship game of the 2009 Sunrise Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon. UMFK earned the earlier win in the semi-final play-in game against fellow conference member UMaine Machias; the Owls, who finished first in the conference over the regular season, had a bye in the first round of the tournament. With the win, the Lady Owls close out their successful season at 18-4, as they repeat as Sunrise Conference Champions. |
