Standish, ME – The UMPI Owls women's cross country team competed in the annual Runnin' Monks Invitational, hosted my Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine. The 6K race hosted six schools as the Owls placed sixth. Bates College won the race with a team score of 24.
Katelyn Osborne (Mount Desert Island, ME), who once again led the team as a first year runner at UMPI, finished with a time of 26:21.4 putting her mile pace at 7:05, giving her a 15th place finish. Felix Norkin (Denmark, ME) was the next Owl to finish the race as she placed 37th overall with a time of 30:05.2, putting her pace at 8:05. Annaset Jackson (Wilton, ME) soon finished with a 42nd place finish, a 31:59.3 time, and an 8:35 pace. Kailee Sprague (North Berwick, ME) finished fourth for the Owls, and an overall 53rd, with a time of 37:34.4. Elizabeth Bitar (Percy, ME) was the final Owls scorer to finish with a time of 37:51.5. Sophia Olore (Alfred, ME) finished with a time of 41:43.9 in her first race of the year.
The Owls next race will be the NAC Championships, hosted by Thomas College. October 30, in the Women's 5K race.
