Standish, ME - Kendra Silvers (So. North Berwick,ME) ran a season's best performance on Saturday at St. Joseph's College in Standish. Even though being a kilometer shorter than the last two contests, Silvers ran a few seconds per mile slower due to hillier and more technical terrain. Her time of 24:16 placed her in 51st position in the 98 runner field, a better performance in light of conditions.
Silvers was the fourth runner in for the Owls and was followed by fifth scorer Chenoa Jackson (Sr. Wilton, ME, 68th, 25:32), Rebecca Griffin (So.Hodgdon, ME, 95th, 33:03) and Jenny Sanborn (Sr. Sangerville, ME, 98th, 38:11). Valentine Degiovanni (Fr. Nice, France) was again the first in for the Owls. Her time of 22:06 placed her 21st, six positions ahead of freshman Irina Norkin (Fr. Denmark,ME), in at 22:47. Emmy Churchill (So. Washburn,ME) was the third scorer with 42 points (43rd overall), a result of her 23:42.
The Owls finished in eighth place in the 11 team field ahead of Simmons, Rivier University, and Thomas College. The Owls have the upcoming week off as U-Maine Presque Isle is hosting the PVC high school conference championships on October 13. The Owls will be at Thomas College on October 19th.
