U-Maine at Presque Isle will be stronger this year under the direction of 29th year head coach Chris Smith. Returners in the effort are veterans Chenoa Jackson (senior, Wilton, ME), Jenny Sanborn (senior, Sangerville,ME), Emmy Churchill (junior, Washburn, ME), and Kendra Silvers (sophomore, North Berwick, ME).
They will be backed up by first year runners Rebecca Griffin (junior, Hodgdon, ME), and freshmen Valentine Degiovanni (Nice, France), Irina Norkin (Denmark, ME), Ashley Morton (Presque Isle, ME), and Yvarline Toussaint (Brockton, MA).
Churchill was the stronger performer last season, having run in the USCAA national meet in Virginia Beach, VA, but should be pushed by one or more of the incoming runners as the team looks to move up in the NAC championship meet (10th in 2017) in October. A home meet on September 1 will give an indication of what the season may bring.
