BANGOR, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls Women's Cross Country team travelled to Bangor to participate in the Husson Harrier Invitational on Saturday. Despite having a runner in the top five, the Owls were not able to post a team score as they had a runner that was forced to drop out of the race due to an undisclosed health related issue.
Emmy Churchill (SO, Washburn, ME) set the pace for UMPI in her first race of the season with a time of 23:53, just two minutes behind the leader. Kendra Silvers (FR, North Berwick, ME) had another strong showing, finishing eighth with a time of 24:57.
Chenoa Jackson (JR, Wilton, ME) crossed the finish line of the 5K race with a time of 27:52, with teammate Elise Gudde (JR, Caribou, ME) coming in behind her with a time of 28:58. Riley Wright (SO, Frenchville, ME) was forced to withdraw from the race.
The Owls take next weekend off of competition and return to action on Saturday, September 23rd at Gordon College. The race starts at 10:45 am.
