Women's Cross Country Opens Season

FARMINGTON, ME - The University of Maine at Presque Isle women's cross country team kicked off the 2017 campaign at the U-Maine at Farmington Invitational on Saturday.  The Owls would finish seventh as a team.

Kendra Silvers (FR, Naples, ME) led the Owls contingent with a strong 27:01 clocking on the challenging course, located at Mount Blue High School, which was good enough for 54th place of the 86 finishers.  Jessica Dickison (SR, Houlton, ME), who is new to the sport of running, paced herself according to plan and finished strongly with a 67th placing at 29:05.  Chenoa Jackson (JR, Wilton, ME), a Mount Blue graduate, used her familiarity of the terrain to come in just behind Dickison at 29:08 for 68thElise Gudde (JR, Caribou, ME) and Mikayla Churchill (JR, Washburn, ME) rounded out the team scoring by finishing at 31:53 (74th) and 36:23 (83rd), respectively. 

The seventh place finish efforts by the individual runners provided valuable feedback, which will be used to set training in preparation for the Husson Invitational.  That race is set for September 9th with the women beginning at 10:30 am.
