Owls Lose First Match in their Weekend at Waterville

Waterville, ME – The UMPI Owls volleyball team Traveled down to Waterville to play in multiple matches this weekend, hosted by Colby College. First match on Friday the 10th vs Gordon College in a best of five match. Gordon won the match three sets to one.

Set 1

25-11, Gordon

The Owls took an early lead in the first set, as the score was 7-10 in the Owls favor. Gordon then responded with a huge 18-1 run to take the first set.

Set 2

26-24, Gordon

Yet again the Owls start off strong, this time with a big, 15-6 lead. A quick run by Gordon tied the set at 16. A five-point run by UMPI was soon answered by Gordon, giving them a late lead, before putting the set away, giving them a 2-0 lead in the match.

UMPI: 3 kills on 26 attack attempts

Gordon: 8 kills on 28 attack attempts

Set 3

25-12, Gordon

This time Gordon took an early lead, a small run by the Owls was not enough as Gordon then continued to extend their lead.

UMPI: 2 kills on 19 attempts

Gordon: 14 kills on 26 attempts


Makayla Miskiwicz (Orlando, FL) led the Owls with three kills on 14 attempts, also adding five service aces and six digs. Kaya Amoroso (Milo, ME) led the team with six assists.
