Presque Isle, ME –The Owls of the University of Maine at Presque Isle hosted the Bengals of the University of Maine at Fort Kent moving the team to 6-12 on the year after dropping both matches. Losing match one in three sets, 23-25, 22-25, 17-25; match two also in three sets 17-25, 17-25, 17-25.
Set 1 (25-23 UMFK): The Owls finished the first set with twelve kills. Leading the way with kills was Maddi Thweatt (Jr. Middleton, ID) racking up four kills on seven attempts. Miranda Washinawatok (Shawano, WI) also added three kills on six attempts with no errors.
Set 2 (25-22 UMFK): Defensively for UMPI Ashlon Stroub (Bakersfield, CA) lead the way with seven digs. Thweatt also added another five digs for the Owls.
Set 3 ( 25-17 UMFK): Washinawatok and Breanna Epperly (Reserve, LA) both kept the defense alive each racking up five digs.
Match 1 Summary: Hailey Kelly(Fy. Wells, ME) led the team in assists with seventeen. Stroub had fifteen digs and four kills.
Set 1 (25-17 UMFK): Both Isabell Fay (Belfast, ME) and Epperly had five digs.
Set 2 (25-17 UMFK):Stroub had nine digs while also getting two kills. Thweatt and Taylor Miller ( Weeki Wachee, FL) added two kills also.
Set 3 (25-17 UMFK): Epperly had five digs while Miller added another three. Thweatt lead the way once again with three kills on eleven attempts.
Match 2 Summary: Kelly combined with Madison Exford (Payette, ID) to total up fifteen assists. Kelly adding nine and Exford adding six. Roni Shaw (Payetter, ID), Miller and Thweatt all had a service ace.
The Owls head back to Presque Isle to host North Atlantic Conference opponents Northern Vermont- Johnson and Northern Vermont- Lyndon on Saturday October 19th at 10:00AM and 4:00PM.
