Owls Sweep Clippers

Machias, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls women's volleyball team moves to 6-10 on the year after winning two matches vs the University of Maine at Machias. Winning match one in three sets, 25-11, 25-5, 25-12; match two also in three sets, 25-11, 25-11, 25-6.

Match 1

Set 1 (25-11, UMPI): The Owls finished the first set with ten kills on 20 attempts and only one error. Five different Owls had two kills, in this team effort win.

Set 2 (25-5, UMPI): UMPI held nothing back in the second set only allowing five points. Maddi Thweatt (Jr. Middleton, ID) led the way at the net with five kills on nine attempts and one error. Makayla Miskiewicz (Fy. Orlando, FL) added three kills on five attempts.

Set 3 (25-12, UMPI): Miskiewicz led the way in the last set with four kills on five attempts. As the Owls finished the set with nine kills on 25 attempts.

Match 1 Summary: Hailey Kelly (Fy. Wells, ME) led the team in assists with 16, while adding three kills on four attempts, and four digs. Roni Shaw had 11 digs and three service aces on the match.

Match 2

Set 1 (25-11, UMPI): UMPI started off in the same fashion for the start of the second match. Thweatt led the way at the net with four kills on six attempts in the first set.

Set 2 (25-11, UMPI): Taylor Miller (Jr. Weeki Wachee, FL) added to the offense with three kills on five attempts in the second set. Ashlon Stroub (Jr. Bakersfield, CA) and Margaret Dickinson (Jr. Brunswick, ME) both added two kills each as well.

Set 3 (25-6, UMPI): Miller finished off the match with another great showing at the net with four kills on six attempts with no errors. Miskiewicz added three more kills for the Owls.

Match 2 summary: Kelly had 12 assists on the match, with six digs and two kills. Miskiewicz led the Owls in digs with seven, while Kelly, Thweatt, Miller and Isabella Fay (Fy. Belfast, ME) all added six digs.

The Owls head back to Presque Isle to host University of Maine at Fort Kent on Wednesday the 9th for two matches at 5:00PM and 7:00PM.
