Owls Drop a Pair on the Road

(CHESTNUT HILL, MA) - The young University of Maine-Presque Isle women's volleyball team was unable to pick up their first victory of the season Saturday, dropping a pair of matches at Pine Manor College in Massachusetts.  The Owls fell to the host Gators 3-1 to open their day and then lost to New Rochelle, 3-0, in the nightcap.

Me.-Presque Isle (0-5) will not play again until October 2nd, when they travel to the University of Southern Maine for a 7pm match.

Pine Manor 3, OWLS 1 (11-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-17)
The day got off to a good start as UMPI won their first set of the season in the first set of their match vs. the Gators, 25-11.  Pine Manor (1-5) stormed back however to win the next 3 straight sets.

Randi Kaplan (So./Embden, ME) led the Owls with 15 digs.  Elizabeth Kofstad (So./Presque Isle, ME) contributed 6 kills


New Rochelle 3, OWLS 0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-20)
The Blue Angels (3-8) dished out a season-high 20 services aces to beat UMPI in straight sets.

Kaplan once again led the team in digs (10), while also adding 4 service aces.  Alison MacDonald (Sr./Antigonish, NS) contributed 5 assists.
